An ergonomic office chair is a tool that, when properly adjusted, can help you maintain the right sitting position. However, it is not enough to just sit on it. Learn some tips on how to adjust the chair to improve the comfort of its use.
Admission word...
An office chair must be properly adjusted to the person's body size to reduce the strain on the lower back and neck. This increases seating comfort and thus reduces the risk of musculoskeletal disorders.
Now that we know the basics, let's get down to specifics.
How to set up an office chair?
Below we present instructions on how to position the furniture to ensure that our workplace does not adversely affect our spine:
1. Elbow length
You should sit comfortably, as close to the desk as possible. Your arms should be parallel to your spine and your hands should be on the keyboard. If your elbows do not form a 90° angle, you need to adjust the height of the chair.
2. Thigh-length
Correct leg positioning should be verified. To do this, we check whether we can easily slide our fingers under the thigh at the front of the seat. If this is difficult or impossible, use a footrest to reduce the tension in your leg muscles. However, if there is too much space, you can increase the height of the chair, provided that point 1 is met.
3. As big as your fist
Check whether the chair depth is appropriate. To verify this, sit so that your buttocks are as far back as possible and measure the distance between the back of your calf and the front of the chair - check whether your clenched hand can fit there.
If the distance is too small, place a pillow on the back of your back, moving slightly forward, or change the chair. Some office chairs have the ability to bring the backrest closer to the seat of the chair - so check whether the one you use has this option.

4. Back support
The backrest of the chair should be profiled in such a way that the lower part of the spine naturally bends into a slight arc. Such support is invaluable in reducing the burden on the back. You should also not lean forward in the chair or slouch, as in this position the lumbar spine is under great strain.
5. A glance
From the point of view of the load on the head and neck, it is important to properly position the monitor. It is best if the top of the monitor is at eye level and the monitor is tilted slightly back. In such a situation, keeping the head in a natural position - slightly tilted forward (approx. 20-25°), we will be able to look at the center of the monitor height at a right angle.
6. Armrest
It is important that our arms are at the right height, which reduces the tension of the neck and shoulder muscles. To do this, adjust the armrests in such a way that they raise your arms up slightly. You can also rest your forearms on the desk.
